A rare sight. Some would even say an unnatural act!
Pluto, Quantel, Tektronix and Panasonic all working
together to solve an interface problem at our pre-staging before
the NAB.
Like starting with a blank page, the beginning of engineering
installation. This is what the NAB looks like four days before
the opening.

The final exterior and interior core installation.
The booth's purpose was to show different manufacturers exchanging
compressed data streams with each other through a standard facility
infrastructure. Everything worked just like it was supposed to.
The DVCPRO compressed data streams at 25, 50 and 100 Mb/second
from Panasonic, sgi, Pluto, Quantel, Tektronix, Avid, JVC and
EMC interfaced cleanly and exchanged perfectly.
The orange cable at the lower right is fiber optic
cable running at OC-3 for the Panasonic ATM experiment.
It was a wonderful two month project for Panasonic
Broadcast and Digital Systems Company. I enjoyed working with
everyone from the States and the Panasonic engineers from Japan.
